Hi, I’m Tamar Chafets.
I love all things marzipan, the smell of frangipani, and binge-watching period piece tv shows…while drinking scotch. When I’m not cooking, sourcing rare ingredients for clients, or concocting new recipes, I am on a food field trip with my daughter, hunting down eateries (stationary or moveable) no matter the distance.
Growing up in Northern California, I started to live life through my taste buds at an early age, and believe the most organic, authentic connections happen over a shared meal.
After university, I ran away to Paris with a boy where I discovered, and immersed myself, in a new culinary world. In-between then and now, a lifetime has passed. I became a single mother when I met my daughter and we became a forever family. I’ve spent decades working in the film industry in LA, pursuing photography, becoming a foster parent, advocating for human rights, and tutoring housing insecure children. Food has woven a community out of the distinct passions in my life. Bringing together individuals who have little in common and watching them make meaningful connections around the dinner table truly warms my heart.
Years of formal training, many hosted dinner parties on land and sea, and, some pretty killer school lunch boxes later, I am privileged to share my passion for cooking with you.
